Choose the host before starting
Big Walk supports groups from 2–12 players, but the host has a special role beyond opening the lobby. The host saves the progress and must start the game first. A group that expects to return to the same shared adventure should therefore pick a host who is likely to be available for later sessions. This is an organizational recommendation based on the confirmed save ownership; it is not a claim that other players lose all personal data or that saves can never change in a later update.
Once the host has begun the session, use the simplest official join path available. Players who are friends on the same platform should be able to see the friend's session. The supplied official facts do not establish the exact button names on every platform, so follow the current platform and game menus rather than an old screenshot or an invented universal sequence.
- Agree who will own the group's saved progress
- Have that person host and start the session first
- For same-platform friends, look for the friend's active session
- Keep the group within the confirmed 2–12 player range
Use the session Join Code when needed
For people who are not connected through the same platform's friend system, Big Walk generates a Join Code for each session. The host can find it in the host menu or in Session Details, then share it directly with the intended players. Because it is generated per session, do not present an older code as a permanent room address and do not publish it as though it belongs to the group forever.
A mixed-platform party should also check compatibility before assuming the code is the problem. The official FAQ says the first two parts of the players' version numbers need to match. The separate crossplay page explains that rule in context. This guide does not add speculative steps such as router changes, port forwarding, or NAT workarounds; the official evidence provided does not verify those fixes.
- Open the current host menu or Session Details
- Copy the code generated for that session
- Share it privately with the intended group
- For crossplay, compare the first two version-number parts
Know the invitation limits
Big Walk does not provide random matchmaking. A player cannot rely on the game to supply an unknown teammate after entering alone. The group needs to arrange known players and use either the same-platform friend route or the Join Code route. The official minimum is two players, even though one person can enter the game by themselves.
If a session still does not appear, capture the exact platform, the visible version number, which player is hosting, and whether the group used a friend session or a Join Code. Those observations are safe diagnostic context, not a promised repair. Platform-specific patch timing and networking remedies remain unknown here. Recheck the live official FAQ before treating any community workaround as authoritative.
- There is no random-match fallback
- A valid plan starts with at least two known players
- Record visible facts before seeking technical help
- Do not assume an unverified networking fix is official
